The two continued their preparations until dusk. Suddenly, the alarm rang, signaling an incursion. “They’re here!” Mia shouted, grabbing her bow and rushing to the settlement’s perimeter. Liam followed, his new sword gleaming in the fading light. “Hold the line!” he yelled, rallying the few settlers who were able to fight.
As they fought off the invaders, Liam noticed the wizard among them, casting spells that weakened their defenses. “We need to take out that Necesse wizard!” he shouted over the clamor of battle. Mia nodded and took careful aim, releasing an arrow that struck true, felling the wizard.
With the immediate threat dealt with, the duo retreated to assess the damage. “That was close,” Mia said, wiping sweat from her brow. “But we can’t keep fighting like this. We need better defenses.”
Liam agreed, already thinking of ways to improve their settlement. “We should set up traps around the base. Maybe use some Necesse dynamite to create a barrier. And we’ll need to upgrade our armor too.”
The next morning, as they rebuilt and prepared for the next wave, Liam looked out over the horizon. “We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much to do. We need to explore the Necesse underground more thoroughly. There might be more resources we can use.”
